Langfoss is one of Norway's most dramatic waterfalls, dropping roughly 612 metres straight down a sheer cliff face before passing under the road and spilling into Åkrafjorden below. What makes it exceptional for photography is how close you can get, with the cascade filling your frame from almost any angle near the roadside pullout. A wide-angle lens works well here to capture the full height of the fall alongside the fjord stretching behind it, while a longer focal length lets you isolate sections of the cascade and compress the layers of rock and water. Try shooting from the small area near the tunnel entrance to include the fjord in the background, or move closer to feel the scale of the drop overhead. Overcast days are ideal since the soft, diffused light reduces harsh shadows on the cliff face and brings out the deep greens of the surrounding rock. The waterfall runs year-round and the roadside access makes it straightforward to reach. (Fjæra, Vestland, Norway)
