Tucked beneath the towering tongue of Nigardsbreen glacier, this ethereal meltwater pond sits inside a glacial cave carved directly into the ice, making it one of the most otherworldly shooting locations in Norway. The deep turquoise and blue tones of the glacial water contrast sharply with the ancient grey-blue ice walls surrounding it, giving you a naturally dramatic color palette without any filters needed. Shoot low to the water's surface to emphasize the reflections and compress the cave ceiling into your frame; a wide angle lens in the 16-24mm range works best here to capture the full sense of scale and enclosure. Overcast days are ideal since harsh sunlight rarely penetrates deep enough anyway, and diffused light keeps the ice textures even and detailed. Bring waterproof boots as the ground is wet and uneven, dress in warm layers regardless of the season, and allow extra time for the hike in along the glacier trail. (Jostedalen, Vestland, Norway)
