Granville Square Courtyard
Granville Square Courtyard sits at the base of a glass office tower on Burrard Inlet, giving you an unusual mix of urban and waterfront subjects within a compact space. You can turn in almost any direction and find a different composition: the SeaBus and float planes crossing the harbour, cruise ships docked at Canada Place, the distinctive spike of Harbour Centre rising above the city, or freight trains moving through the rail yards below. The elevated courtyard position gives you a slightly elevated perspective over the waterfront that works well with a mid-range zoom, around 24-70mm. Overcast days soften the contrast between the bright water and dark buildings, but golden hour light catches the glass towers beautifully. The space is open and uncrowded, making it easy to set up a tripod for longer exposures of train movement or evening harbour reflections. (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
