W Cordova St View
This stretch of W Cordova Street near Waterfront Station puts you at the intersection of Vancouver's historic and contemporary architecture, where heritage brick facades sit directly against gleaming glass towers. Walk the block between Richards and Granville Streets and look for tight compression shots using a telephoto lens to stack the layers of old and new buildings, or go wide to capture the full streetscape with the towers rising behind the ornate station roofline. The street runs roughly east-west, making early morning your best bet for soft, even light that avoids harsh shadows between the buildings; overcast days also work well here by eliminating glare on the glass facades. You have room to plant a tripod on the sidewalk without much obstruction, and the area sees light foot traffic in the early hours. A 24-70mm covers most compositions, but a 70-200mm lets you isolate architectural details worth exploring. (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
