Louis Vuitton Foundation
Designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 2014, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is one of Paris's most striking pieces of contemporary architecture, with its billowing glass sail panels and white concrete structure rising dramatically from the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. The building rewards patient exploration from multiple angles; walk the full perimeter to find compositions where the layered glass panels create depth and reflection, or step back toward the reflecting pool to capture the entire structure mirrored in calm water. Overcast days are ideal for shooting the exterior, as they reduce harsh glare on the glass and reveal the intricate geometry more evenly. A wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range helps capture the full scale of the facade up close. The surrounding terraces offer elevated perspectives looking back over the forest canopy. Arrive early to avoid crowds and photograph the interior light-filled galleries before they fill up. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
