About Pier 84

Pier 84 extends into the Hudson River at West 44th Street, giving you an open waterfront platform with sweeping views that are hard to match anywhere else in Manhattan. Looking south, you get the classic Hudson River panorama with boats moving through the water and the New Jersey skyline across the way; turning north, the George Washington Bridge appears on clear days. The Circle Line terminal and its boats make for interesting foreground elements, while the pier itself offers clean leading lines pointing out toward the water. Golden hour and blue hour both work well here, with the fading light catching the river surface and the New Jersey Palisades taking on warm tones at sunset. A wide angle lens handles the broad views, but a short telephoto lets you compress the layers of water, boats, and distant cliffs. Access is straightforward via the Hudson River Greenway, and the pier stays open late. (New York City, New York, United States)
