Pont Mobile

Pont Mobile is a swing bridge crossing Canal Saint-Martin in the 10th arrondissement, offering some of the most layered and atmospheric waterway compositions in Paris. The canal's tree-lined banks, iron footbridges, and lock gates stack up beautifully from here, giving you strong leading lines and reflections to work with. Shoot from the bridge itself looking north or south along the canal to compress the multiple bridges into a single frame, or step down to the towpath level to get low and use the water's surface for reflections. Overcast days soften the contrast and bring out the greens of the trees, while early morning gives you calm water and almost no foot traffic. A 24-70mm lens covers most compositions well.
