Skogafoss
Skogafoss is one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls, dropping 60 meters into a wide, open basin that gives you room to compose without obstruction. You can shoot from ground level at the base for a dramatic low-angle perspective with the full curtain of water filling your frame, or climb the staircase to the right of the falls to get a top-down view over the river and surrounding landscape. A wide-angle lens works well up close, where mist from the falls often creates rainbows on sunny mornings, while a longer focal length lets you compress the scene and emphasize the scale from further back on the flat approach path. Overcast days soften the light and bring out the green of the surrounding cliffs. The path to the base is easy and well-maintained, and arriving early means fewer crowds in your frame.
