Tungufoss
Tungufoss is a compact but charming waterfall tucked into the landscape just outside Reykjavík, where a rocky shelf drops the river in a wide curtain that rewards close-up compositions as much as wider environmental shots. A small bridge crosses near the falls, giving you an elevated perspective to shoot straight down the river or use the railing as a leading line toward the cascade. The ruins of a 1930s hydroelectric station add an industrial texture to the scene, so look for ways to layer the stonework in the foreground with the falls behind. Overcast days are ideal here since the soft diffused light eliminates harsh shadows and brings out the greens and wet rock tones. A wide-angle lens works well to capture the full scene, while a medium telephoto lets you isolate details in the ruins or the water texture. Polarizing filters help cut glare on the water surface. Parking is easy and the walk to the falls is short. (Mosfellsbær, Iceland)
