View of BC Place
Tucked behind the Olympic Village, this waterfront walkway along False Creek gives you one of Vancouver's cleanest views of BC Place, the domed stadium reflecting in the calm marina waters below. Position yourself along the path to frame the stadium dome above the rows of sailboats and leisure craft moored in the foreground, using the masts as layering elements to add depth. A medium telephoto lens, something in the 70-200mm range, helps compress the scene and pull the dome closer to the boats. Early morning is ideal when the water is glassy and the light is soft; overcast days also work well by keeping reflections smooth and eliminating harsh shadows. The walkway is easy to access on foot or by bike, and you have a good stretch of path to explore different framings, so take your time moving along it to find your preferred composition.
