library@orchard
library@orchard is a public library tucked inside Orchard Gateway, spread across the third and fourth floors, and its interior is one of the most visually striking in Singapore. The shelving units curve and flow organically through the space, and looking down from the upper level you get a sweeping overhead view where the bookcases resemble ribbons or waves winding across the floor below. Shoot from the fourth floor railing to capture that top-down perspective, or get low on the main floor and use the curving shelves as leading lines toward the light-filled windows. A wide-angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range works well to emphasize the architectural drama. The library is naturally lit during the day, so midday hours when light filters through the facade give you the most even, usable exposure. Entry is free and the space is open to the public, though weekday mornings are quieter for shooting without crowds. (Central Area, Singapore)
